FBISE’S DISTINCTIONS
The Federal Board has been awarding prizes to exceptionally good students as well as the best institutions and holding prize distribution ceremonies since its inception in 1975.

FBISE is the first Board of Education in Pakistan to have introduced the panel system of centralized marking of answer scripts, held workshops in different disciplines, provided test items to students, and implemented a new scheme of studies featuring several innovations at both SSC and HSSC levels, to facilitate teachers as well as students.

Federal Board has set a commendable example for other Boards in Pakistan , being the first ever in the country to have successfully introduced One Window Operation, Centralized Syndicate Marking of answer books, Digital Archiving of Records, Parallel Computing, Online Migration Certificate and Duplicate Marks Sheet, Test Bank, World Wide Website, A-Z Computerization of student data and its entire system. The Board held workshops in different disciplines, provided test items to students and implemented new scheme of studies featuring several innovations at both SSC and HSSC levels to facilitate students, institutions and the public.

Best Teacher Awards:
Federal Board has once again taken the lead and set another notable example for other Boards to emulate, by instituting the BEST TEACHER AWARD to honour those teachers who, by dint of their unremitting diligence, have produced extremely good results in the SSC and HSSC annual examinations. Cent percent result in the respective subject and the highest number of students of the institution was taken into reckoning for selection of the best teacher. A cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a merit certificate was awarded to each best teacher. This award was a modest attempt to acknowledge the services of dedicated teachers. It is expected to foster a healthy spirit of competition among the teachers, thereby helping advance the cause of education in the country.

No School/College will be Examination Centre for Its own Students:
As a measure of devising and giving effect to new strategies and reforms in the examination system, FBISE decided that as from the annual examinations 2004, no school/college will be established as an examination centre for its own students for theory papers. However, Practical Examination is being held at student’s own institution. Where there is only one school/college at a station, it is being made Examination Center and supervisory staff is being employed from outside.

FUTURE PLAN:
Credit-Card Authorization for Online admission form of FBISE students :
Under the current FBISE system, overseas students as well as those living in remote areas in Pakistan are required to obtain bank drafts and send them on to FBISE. This system is time-consuming since normal postage is used, which is slow and not always reliable. FBISE is planning to introduce on-line credit card authorization for the convenience of students. The system will enable students in remote areas as well as abroad to get registered with FBISE conveniently.

Automated Result Service on PSTN:
This system is being introduced for the purpose of off-loading the enormous number of calls with which the FBISE is deluged on the day the examination results are announced. This will also help reduce the load on the FBISE website on that day (during result weeks, an estimated 500,000 hits are received daily). Most importantly, this will extend service to the students living in remote areas of the country, which do not have access to the Internet and face problems trying to contact the FBISE office to ascertain the result details. FBISE will advertise, on its website and other media, the 0900 number on the day of announcement of the result.

Examination Centre Monitoring over Internet Protocol:
Under this project, FBISE will setup the facility of viewing their examination centers, initially in the vicinity of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, and subsequently all over Pakistan as well as abroad. This will help the Board monitor all examination centres simultaneously and ensure that no cheating, or resort to any other unfair means, takes place. This will provide all examinees with a level playing-field to help them demonstrate their competitive worth in a controlled environment.

Commercialization of Website for Universities Admissions Inquiries:
FBISE is the first Board of education in Pakistan to have built its website in 1999 to facilitate students in Pakistan as well as abroad. Our website accesses millions million times a year, the reason being that our website contains just about every thing as far as the student’s routine is concerned. However, there is one deficiency and that is no information is available for our valued students regarding admissions for higher studies to Universities. To make up for it, the Board is planning to commercialize its esteemed website whereby Universities will advertise for their admission schedules on it as they do in newspapers. This will not only assist FBISE financially, but will also help the overseas students to ascertain the latest dates of the university admission tests.
